Maria Berrini

Graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1981, she specialized in evaluation, local sustainable development, and participation. She has started professional activities in this field and since foundation She served as President and Area Manager of Ambiente Italia (first an NGO and then an LLC in 1995), developing and coordinating hundreds of projects. As an Italian member of the European Commission's "Urban Environment Experts" Group in the early 2000s, she was also appointed to the Evaluation Panel for the European Green Capital Award from 2008 to 2012 and to the Expert Group for the Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities in 2011. Since 2009, she has been elected to the Council of the Order of Architects of Milan and since 2011 to the Steering Committee of the Green Building Council Italy. She is a lecturer and member of several scientific committees (most recently: the Scientific Committee of the Climate Action Plan appointed by the Mayor of Milan and the Scientific Committee of the La GOCCIA – EU Urban Innovation Project). In 2011, she was appointed Sole Director of AMAT srl (Agenzia Mobilità Ambiente Territorio, a subsidiary of the Municipality of Milan).

In 2018, she returned to the Board of Directors of Ambiente Italia srl, where she now offers her experience as a Senior Advisor and as coordinator and promoter of the development of European projects.
